- 1 (28 oz) can of sliced peaches in juice (or 5–6 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving (a hole-in-one pairing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pour the melted butter into a 9×9 or 8×8 baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together ¾ cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter—don’t stir!
- Spoon peaches (with juice) over the batter. Again, don’t stir.
- Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup sugar and cinnamon over the top.
