Finding My Golf Style: From Frustrated to Feeling Good on the Course

If I’m being totally honest, golf clothes used to be my least favorite outfits to put together. When my husband and I first started playing, I would often say “no” to a round—not because I didn’t want to play, but because I genuinely had nothing to wear. I had no clue where to start, and every time I’d browse online or in stores, everything I picked felt… off.

The clothes that were “appropriate” for golf always seemed too mature, too stiff, or just didn’t feel like me. I wanted to look polished, sure—but not like I raided someone else’s closet. The preppy polos and long skorts didn’t match my everyday style, and every outfit made me feel out of place instead of confident.

Fast forward a few years and now, my son wants to start playing golf. Watching him light up with excitement about the game gave me the nudge I needed to finally figure out what my golf style looks like.

Instead of forcing myself into clothes that didn’t feel like me, I started searching for pieces that are sporty, feminine, and fun—styles that work on the course and still feel like something I’d wear in real life. It’s made all the difference. Getting dressed for golf no longer feels like a chore—and I actually look forward to putting outfits together.

Below are a few of the pieces that helped me feel more like myself on the course—stylish, comfortable, and ready to play. Whether you’re a new golfer, a golf mom, or just trying to feel a little cuter in your weekend rounds, I hope this helps you find your swing—on and off the course.

Top is CALIA (Their Golf Clothes are so cute!) Side note: Every time I wear a mock neck my husband says I look like Steve Jobs. 🙂 This skort I have had for YEARS and it has stood the test of time. I am 5’9 so everything looks short on me. Check the dress code before you go play, but this is fine for my club. Honestly the only people that are going to say anything have nothing better to do with their time. Use your judgment and whatever you decide to wear make sure you feel confident in it. That’s all that matters.

This is a very play it safe option and is acceptable at most clubs. Again check dress code for collared shirts, but this works for me. This shirt is a dupe for the lululemon swiftly tech short sleeve and is a third of the price. If you want the real deal go for it, but this does the job. This skort, does what it needs to do but I don’t like the fabric or quality as much as the navy skort.

My new favorite dress! This dress is the perfect fabric for playing in the summer heat! It does not come with built in shorts (which I prefer in dresses) So, you will need to pick up some little bikers to go underneath it. I love that it has pockets and zipper neckline. It is so flattering on and I highly recommend.

This skort is great for tennis or golf and the top is the same as the pink just in white. Both are breathable, comfortable, and cute.

Right now, my favorite golf brand is CALIA—it’s stylish, comfortable, and easy to mix into everyday outfits. But I’m excited to start exploring some smaller women-owned golf brands and will definitely report back with my favorites.
